What inspires you to teach others?
I'm inspired to share my love of yoga with others - it has brought me a lot of physical self-awareness, which has allowed me to improve strength, flexibility and body awareness during the other sports I partake in. Yoga has also helped me recuperate from injury and to feel better after sitting, snowboarding, running, cycling, etc. I love seeing other bodies and people change as they get more "comfortable" with an uncomfortable pose and allow their body to relax and their muscles and connective tissue to let go of the gripping. It's really exciting as a teacher to see a student go from struggling with a posture to feeling comfortable in it - that "aha" moment makes teaching so rewarding!
What is something your practice has taught you?
The deeper, spiritual side of my yoga practice has also brought me calmness, serenity, and a semblance of grace that I hope to share with others. Yoga has made me more self-aware on the emotional and spiritual levels and has really helped me to grow as a person. Not to say that I don't have "bad" days or that i don't regress and occasionally act bratty, but yoga helps me to be the person I want to be, more of the time.
How to pick just one?! I LOVE food - pretty much all of it. I can't eat gluten, but am able to enjoy pretty much all other foods! I love sushi, tacos, pho, fresh juice, a hand-crafted cappuccino and anything made with love.
